Founded in 1908, Bergans has played a major role in Scandinavian outdoor life for more than a century.

Driven by dedicated and passionate outdoor enthusiasts, they introduced and patented the backpack as we know it today, an invention famous polar explorers such as Amundsen and Scott recognized and used on their expeditions.

No other manufacturer of outdoor equipment can match Bergans experience in polar exploration – or their ambition to share this legacy with today’s adventurers.

We wanted to create a framework to honor the proud past of the Bergans brand. A retail concept that clarifies the brand position and has a signature strong enough to function as an ambassador and brand voice for the Bergans product portfolio.

The design of the fittings are inspired by the framework of the original backpack and adapted as a signature detail to the floor stands.

The first concept store was opened in Ski, just outside Oslo, Norway. Followed up by Nordic and European implementations, as well as shop-in-shop formats from the south of Norway to Svalbard in the far north.
